Select & Deselect

The Select and Deselect commands enable you to quickly select and deselect design objects with minimal effort. The commands can be accessed by choosing Home | Clipboard | Select/Deselect from the PCB and schematic editors. 

The Select and Deselect drop-down menu command options and their relevant functions will vary depending on the current document editor as described below.

Select

The relevant primitive(s) in the Selection Filter region must be enabled for these commands to work properly.
  • Cross Select Mode - click to select one or more objects within the document. Cross selecting enables you to select an object(s) on the source document, and by enabling the cross select command, the same object(s) will be selected on the target document. This option is available only in the PCB and schematic editors. 
  • Inside Area - click to select design objects within a user-defined area in the current document. Drag the selection window from left to right; you will select all objects that fall completely within the bounds of the selection area.
  • All - click to select all objects on the current document. 
  • Connection - click to select all electrically connected objects for a chosen point in the circuit. This option is available only in the schematic editor.
  • Net - click to select all electrical objects associated with a particular net. This option is available only in the PCB editor.
  • Connected Copper - click to select all electrical objects that are connected to the same piece of copper. This option is available only in the PCB editor.
  • Physical Connection - click to select all physically routed tracks between pad objects. This option is available only in the PCB editor.
  • All on Layer - click to select all objects on the current layer. This option is available only in the PCB editor.
  • Toggle Selection - click to change the selection status of one or more design objects in the current document. You also can toggle the selection status of a single object without affecting the status of other objects by positioning the cursor over the object then clicking.

Deselect

  • Inside Area - click to deselect any previously selected design objects within a user-defined area in the current document.
  • Outside Area - click to deselect any previously selected design objects outside of a user-defined area.
  • All on Current Document - click to deselect all objects that have previously been selected on the current document. This option is available only in the schematic and schematic library editors.
  • All Open Documents - click to deselect all previously selected design objects on all open schematic and schematic library documents. This option is available only in the schematic and schematic library editors.
  • All - click to deselect all objects that have previously been selected on the current document. This option is available only in the PCB and PCB library editors.
  • All on Layer - click to deselect all previously selected design objects on the current layer. This option is available only in the PCB and PCB library editors.
  • Free Objects - click to deselect all previously selected design objects within the design. This option is available only in the PCB and PCB library editors.
